Kakinada: Kakinada MP and TDP parliamentary party leader Thota Ventra Narasimham said that Kakinada will soon get NIFT, IIP and DGFT centres besides digital classrooms for 53 schools in the constituency. Addressing media persons at his camp office here on Wednesday, he said that the NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology) authorities agreed to start its varsities in Kakinada, which will help the city to develop into a fashion designing hub. The MP also said that at present the NIFT has its centre at Hyderabad in the south.

With regards to DGFT (Director General of Foreign Trade), which was established in 1991, it plays a significant role in exporting and importing. As far as IIP (Indian Institute of Packaging) is concerned, Thota said that the two-year diploma course being offered by this organisation has 100 per cent campus placement assurance.

Regarding digital classrooms, the department of school education agreed to provide 53 rooms each at the cost of Rs 1.05 lakh to Kakinada Lok Sabha constituency and 47 to other centres in East Godavari district. The MP also said that the Kakinada–Pithapuram railway main line project works have been expedited and grounding work is expected to start soon. He revealed that these developmental activities have no connection with the Kakinada civic body polls. To a question on backing out World Bank from Kakinada–Rajamahedravaram Rs 318 crore road projects, the MP said that he would request the WB authorities to reconsider the decision.
