Rajamahendravaram: The special council meeting convened in the Municipal Corporation of Rajamahendravaram (MCR) on Friday gave four days time to all the corporators to file written objections on the proposed master plan. The meeting which was chaired by Mayor Pantam Rajani Sesha Sai and members sought many clarifications from RV Associates, who designed and gave power point presentation on the master plan.

The designers said that the master plan was designed as per the requirements of a population coming up to 2,031 and 8.30 lakh. One of the designers who explained about the master plan said that they have clinical approach towards the plan and have taken NGS images, appraisals of master plan 1991 and other layouts into consideration. He also said that width of roads, floating populations, industrial growth, IT hubs, STPs, social infrastructure, disaster management, road widening, bypass alignment and other major issues were incorporated in the master plan.

Several corporators said that they received the Telugu version of the master plan only on Thursday and wanted some more time to study it. They also suggested enlightening public ward-wise on the master plan and hold meetings separately on it.City Planner P Saibaba said that they have given two public notifications on the master plan and received 446 objections for the first time and 114 for the second time from the public.

Meanwhile, MLAs Dr Akula Satyanarayana, Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary suggested giving four days time to give written objections by corporators to the officials on master plan, which was approved by the Mayor. She said that after receiving objections, the officials will be giving finishing touches to draft the master plan and added that she will decide the date for the next special council meeting after discussing with all party representatives.

Earlier, MLA Akula Satyanarayana pointed out that the master plan should not create any panic among the people and suggested to take 1971 plan as an example. Rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiach Chowdary said that the master plan will not harm small people.
