Eluru: CPI State unit secretary K Ramakrishna called upon the party cadre to agitate for getting reservations in private sector for the SC, ST, BC and minority section people.

He participated in the roundtable meeting on reservations in private sector organised by District Social Rights Forum at Kasi Visweswara Kalyana Mandapam on Sunday.

Speaking at the meeting, he said that the State and Central Governments are showing apathy over the reservations in private sector and said it is necessary to take up multi-level campaigning on this issue. He suggested conducting awareness seminars at all levels all over the State and also took up dharna programmes at all district collectorates.

CPI State Assistant Secretary J V Satyanarayana Murthy felt that if SC, ST, BC and minority sections come under an umbrella, it will be useful to get reservations in private sector. He regretted that 90 per cent people who created wealth did not yield any result.

He suggested land distribution to weaker sections to curb migrations from rural areas.

Andhra Pradesh Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham General Secretary and former MLC Jalli Wilson said that through the Social Rights Forum these sections have to fight for the cause of social justice.

He also called upon the downtrodden section people to pressurise the governments through agitations for the implementation of reservations in the private sector.

Forum Convenor Dega Prabhakar said that the Forum will conduct the seminars in the district and added that a maha-dharna programme will be taken up at District Collectorate in Eluru on November 21. Leaders from various organisations MD Saleem, P Somasekhar, G Rajaram, former MLA Maradani Rangarao, Konala Bhimarao Nethala Ramesh Babu and others participated in the programme.
