Tirupati: Municipal Corporation Commissioner V Vinay Chand said that beautification of the Tirupati international airport will be taken on the lines of the Shamshabad airport in Hyderabad.

The commissioner on Saturday inspected the beautification works which are going on at a brisk pace at the international airport (at Renigunta) which was taken up by the Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA). He wanted the authorities to take steps for bringing the best of ornamental and floral varieties for planting at the airport and directed them to develop the entire open area before the airport as a green park with musical colour fountains and colour lights and geo-tagging of the flower varieties.

Citing the steady increase in the flow of air passengers including pilgrims visiting Tirupati and Tirumala, he wanted the airport authorities along with the TUDA to ensure proper maintenance of the green park area and the musical colour fountains to enhance the image of pilgrim centre.

Vinay Chand after noticing rubbish and litter remaining uncleared in some places in the airport area sought the authorities to remove it immediately to make the airport and its surrounding area clean and tidy.

TUDA secretary Madhavilatha and others were present.
