The death anniversary of the Architect of Indian Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar was observed in various parts of West Godavari district on Tuesday.

Eluru: The death anniversary of the Architect of Indian Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar was observed in various parts of West Godavari district on Tuesday.

Women and Child Welfare Minister Peethala Sujatha unveiled the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar at Harijanapeta in Tokalapalli village of Veeravasaram Mandal.

Speaking on the occasion, she stated that everyone should follow in the footsteps of Ambedkar for a socialist society, without any inequalities. She said the TDP Government led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was striving hard for the upliftment of the downtrodden people in the society and as part of it the government was earmarking funds for the welfare of SC/STs in addition to the funds sanctioned under SC/ST Sub plan.

ZPTC member Manukonda Pradeep, MPTCs Kommana Nagalakshmi, Kavuru Srinivas, Sarpanch Chintapalli Manikyala Rao, and others participated in the programme. In Narsapur town, MLA Bandaru Madhava Naidu garlanded the statue of Ambedkar at Ambedkar centre in the town and paid tributes to the great leader. He recalled the services rendered by Ambedkar to the nation. He said that the TDP government was committed to the development of SCs and STs in the State and as part of it under SC ST Sub-plan; Rs15.3 crore had been spent on constructing cement roads in Dalit colonies, he said.

He added that an SC community building would be constructed in the constituency at a cost of Rs 70 lakh. AMC Chairman Rayudu Sriramulu, Municipal Chairperson Pasupuleti Ratnamala, Vice Chairman Ponnala Nagababu, TDP Narsapur town committee President Koppadi Ravindranath and others participated.

In Eluru, MLC Ramu Surya Rao garlanded the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar at the Social welfare office in a programme organised by SC employees’ welfare Association. The MLC called on the youth to follow the preachings of Dr BR Ambedkar who had stressed on the need for education for the development of the oppressed classes. Social Welfare Deputy Director Rangalakshmi, SC Employees Welfare Association State President Dasari Ramesh Babu and others participated.
