Anantapur tops State in tax collections

Anantapur: Deputy Transport Commissioner (DTC) Dr V Sunder said the district ranked number one in collection of the life tax, which improved by 23.4 per cent.Anantapur was followed by West Godavari with a growth rate of 22.07 per cent and by Kadapa with 22.04 per cent.

The district collected Rs 105.37 crore as tax during April 16, 2016-December16, 2016.
The State Transport Department registered growth of 10 per cent in the State.
“Vehicle sales had fallen due to demonetisation effect. With the Central government’s decision of creating awareness on cashless transactions, the Transport department introduced swiping machines.
More than 85 per cent transactions had been made through these machines,” he informed.
