Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Students Youth Federation (APSYF) demanded that the government take action against the accused in Rohit Vemula’s case.

The APSYF observed first death anniversary of Rohith Vemula in the Old City here on Tuesday.

APSYF State president Navaneetham Sambasiva Rao said the government did not take action against Vice-Chancellor of Hyderabad Central University Appa Rao even one year after the death of Rohit who committed suicide in university hostel room.

He also demanded the government arrest the Vice-Chancellor and take measures for the transparency in inquiry of the case.

The actions of Union Ministers Bandaru Dattatreya, Smrithi Irani, Akhila Bharatiya Vidyardhi Parishad (ABVP) and Sangh Parivar forces forced Rohit to commit suicide, he alleged.

He also said the BJP and Union government were instigating caste based disputes among the various sections of students and particularity targeting weaker sections, Dalits and minorities.
