Sports plan moots building stadiums in district
Eluru: A comprehensive sports plan, with an outlay of Rs.350 crore, has been prepared by the district administration to develop sports across the district.

District Sports Development Officer SA Aziz submitted a report to the District Collector K Bhaskar here on Tuesday detailing the district sport body’s plan to lift up sports activities in the district.
A list of proposals, in this regard, is already submitted by the district administration to the Centre under ‘Khelo India scheme’ to develop stadiums and construct new stadiums in the district.
The plan envisages building indoor and outdoor stadiums as well as the playgrounds all over the district. Under this plan, four indoor stadiums, including outdoor playgrounds would be built at ZP High Schools in Mogalturu, Bhimadole, Tanuku and Tadepalligudem. An amount of Rs. 8 crore is earmarked for the construction of the proposed stadiums.
In addition to the proposed stadiums, another indoor stadium will be constructed in the premises of social welfare residential school at Pedavegi at a cost of Rs.1.50 crore under Scheduled Castes Sub Plan (SCSP).
Sports facilities such as two indoor shuttle badminton courts, table tennis courts, chess, caroms will also be provided at the indoor stadium.
Coach room, sports material store room, four special rooms for sportspersons are also covered under the plan. The construction should be completed within six months.
