Kurnool: Adoni III Town police arrested a prime accused Shaik Sultan Zapre alias Shaik Mulang on the charges of chain snatching.

Disclosing the details to the media here on Monday, Adoni DSP Kolli Srinivas said the accused Shaik Sultan Zapre along with five more members Shaik Musthafa, Shaik Bhahi, Shaik Banu, Shaik Gulam Ali and Irani Abbas by forming a gang are operating in a group on the name of ‘Irani Gang’.

All these six members were involved in several chain snatching cases that took place in Raghavendra Colony, AP Housing Board Colony, Tirumal Nagar in 2016 and at Kiddis School in 2016. After completing their operation at Adoni, all the six accused shifted their base to Goa, the DSP stated. The Goa police had arrested Shaik Sultan Zapre and sent him to central jail.

On learning that Zapre was in Goa Central Jail, a team approached the Goa police and brought him to Adoni, said Srinivasulu. After a thorough interrogation, Zapre confessed to the crimes and helped in recovering around 40 tolas of gold ornaments.

This Irani Gang is being operated from Guntakal of Anantapur district, he stated. Earlier to Zapre’s arrest, Shaik Musthafa, Shaik Bhabi and Shaik Bhanu have been arrested and the remaining two accused Shaik Gulam Ali and Irani Abbas are yet large. Shaik Sulthan Zapre alias Mulang would be produced in the court, the DSP said.
