7 cities, 27 townships in Amaravati capital
Advisor (communications), AP government, Parakala Prabhakar on Thursday said seven cities with 27 townships would come up in the capital city of Amaravati. Roads, main arterial roads, sub-arterial roads and entries apart from buildings would reflect ‘silpam’, ‘rupam’ and ‘namam’, he said.
Vijayawada: Advisor (communications), AP government, Parakala Prabhakar on Thursday said seven cities with 27 townships would come up in the capital city of Amaravati. Roads, main arterial roads, sub-arterial roads and entries apart from buildings would reflect ‘silpam’, ‘rupam’ and ‘namam’, he said.
Addressing the media here on the concluding day of two-day meet with experts on ‘Culture and history in designing Amaravati’, he said the upcoming capital city of Amaravati would reflect our culture and history in all aspects.
He said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu insisted on reflection of our culture in buildings, roads, greenery, etc. The government had assigned the task of finalising the list of various aspects in this regard to experts in various fields such as sculpture, excavation, history, etc.,

Stating that the government’s endeavour was to give our cultural flavour and ambience to the capital, Prabhakar reminded that they had collected samples of water and soil from all villages and spiritual centres. Though Norman Foster (of London) had been guiding in building the capital city, the government would ensure reflection of our cultural heritage in its appearance, he added.
Giving details of adaptation of historical aspects, he said that history prior and after Satavahanas and history before and after Buddhism would be taken into consideration.
Prabhakar announced that various teams would make further study before shortlisting of historical and cultural aspects during two-day meeting to be scheduled from March 11. The teams would be represented by experts including K V Rao, Chowdary, P Sai, Sivanagi Reddy, Prof Amareshwar, Anand Sai and Ranganayakulu. In the meantime, teams formed for the purpose of further study would leave to places like national museum in Delhi and museums in Chennai and Hyderabad.
The teams would discuss the issues after their tour before March 11. Clarity on the aspects to be made part of the capital would come at the next meeting. The Chief Minister would be briefed on the proceedings of the meet. By April-end, the final designs would be readied, he added.
