Visakhapatnam: Multi Model Logistic Park developed by Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) near International Airport, in the city with an investment of Rs 500 crore began its first commercial operations on Saturday.

Visakhapatnam: Multi Model Logistic Park developed by Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) near International Airport, in the city with an investment of Rs 500 crore began its first commercial operations on Saturday.

Divisional Railway Manager, Chandralekha Mukherjee flagged off a container train to Vedanta Alumina plant at Brundamal, Odisha from CONCOR’s Multi Modal Logistics Park (MMLP).

In her address to the large gathering, she said that it was first of its kind in Andhra Pradesh and urged trade and commerce bodies to use the railway siding from MMLP and its facilities to reduce their logistics and inventory costs.

She said that railways were committed to promote container traffic in a big way as it would the future of rail transport.

The flagging off of the first train took in presence of General Manager of CONCOR, M Yelvender Yadav and other senior officials. Yelvender Yadav said that because of timely cooperation of railways, the siding has been operationalised.

The logistic park was developed in an area of 108 acres with an estimated cost of
Rs 500 crore. It has warehouse and other state-of-art handling facilities.
