The State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here on Thursday took several important decisions, including naming the Gannavaram Airport as NTR Amaravati Airport and Tirupati Airport as Sri Venkateswara Airport and proposals for the same would be sent to the Centre for approval.

Amaravati: The State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here on Thursday took several important decisions, including naming the Gannavaram Airport as NTR Amaravati Airport and Tirupati Airport as Sri Venkateswara Airport and proposals for the same would be sent to the Centre for approval.

The Cabinet has accepted the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board Draft Bill. The board works in the place of Andhra Pradesh Port department. It also decided to float new liquor policy by introducing amendments in the Assembly, besides changes were proposed to existing act for depositors’ protection.

As per the proposed amendments non-bailable cases would be booked against the people involved in financial crimes.

In a bid to protect the interests of farmers a New Seed Act would be introduced, according to which fake seed traders would be punished with five years imprisonment and Rs 5 lakh penalty.

The Cabinet categorically discussed the Assembly session procedures and Governors speech. Energy University Draft Bill-2017 would also be introduced in the Assembly. In the wake of summer season, the government has taken decision to provide several precautions for avoiding the drinking water scarcity across the State.

The Chief Minister explained the Amaravati capital designs, which were submitted by the Norman Fosters Company. Naidu suggested getting public opinion before finalising the designs.

The Cabinet also condemned the attitude of Opposition leader. It watched the footage of YS Jaganmohan Reddy warning Krishna district collector. A resolution extending condolence to the family members of deceased in the Nandigama bus accident was passed.

It also approved 600 acre land allocation for Bhogapuram Airport and 75 acres for Savita University in Amaravati capital. The government cleared the proposals by allotting land for Energy University at Penukonda in Anantapur district and Logistic Park at Kakinada. The new automobile policy also would be introduced for encouraging automobile industry operations.
