Atchannaidu kicked me, alleges a govt employee
A woman office subordinate (attender) of Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department alleged that she was beaten, kicked and insulted by Labour Minister K Atchannaidu and harassed by the police and R&B officials.
Srikakulam: A woman office subordinate (attender) Kurapani Kalyani of Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department alleged that she was beaten, kicked and insulted by Labour Minister K Atchannaidu and harassed by the police and R&B officials.
Kalyani got a job in R&B Department after the death of her father Kurapani Apparao under deceased quota at Tekkali division office in Srikakulam district 13 years ago.
Apparao worked as a driver of road roller in the department. To secure promotion, she had submitted her SSC pass certificate, but R&B officials found that the certificate was fake and denied her promotion.
In a bid to fight for promotion, Kalyani went to K Atchannaidu’s camp office at Nimmada in Srikakulam. She alleged that the Minister allegedly beat her, kicked and abused her with filthy words after he was misled by the officials of the R and B and police departments, she alleged.
She went to Amaravati on March 15 and made a futile bid to meet Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to explain her plight. Subsequently, she had consumed sleeping pills in a bid to commit suicide.
On information, police took her into custody and shifted her to Tekkali. On Friday, Tekkali police took her to government RIMS hospital at Srikakulam for medical tests.
However, Kalyani refused to undergo medical tests and lamented over officials of the R&B and police departments and Minister Atchannaidu subjecting her to harassment. The R and B officials said she had produced a fake SSC certificate and they had lodged a complaint against her with the police.
