The Andhra Pradesh Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association (APAWHA) demands action against Family Welfare Department Principal Secretary Poonam Malakondaiah for her \'arrogant behaviour\' with K Dhanalakkshmi, APAWHA state convenor and members on March 30.
APAWHA general secretary Subbaravamma alleged that the Principal Secretary insulted association members when they submitted a representation on March 30
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association (APAWHA) demands action against Family Welfare Department Principal Secretary Poonam Malakondaiah for her 'arrogant behaviour' with K Dhanalakkshmi, APAWHA state convenor and members on March 30.
Speaking at press club here on Friday, the APAWHA general secretary Subbaravamma said that APAWHA vice-president NCH Supraja, Jayani and Rani met Poonam Malakondaiah at the new Assembly premises to give a representation for releasing of pending salaries, rents for Anganwadi centres and pending bills. After receiving the representation, she threw down the letter and insulted them
She said that salaries of workers and helpers of Anganwadi centres were pending for four months. For more than a year, 31,000 Anganwadi centre rents were pending and monthly transport charges were also pending.
She further said that the Anganwadi workers were taking loans to pay the rents and their ATM cards were pledged as surety to avail loans from financiers. She said that the government would release salary at the time of festivals for Christmas, Sankranti and Ugadi but till now nothing has been done for the release of funds.
She added that when workers and helpers approached Poonam to release the funds before March 31, she was reluctant to receive the representation and listen to our problems. Instead of giving a convincing reply she insulted the workers who met her. The workers demand action against the officer and release the budget to resolve their problems.
