DCI workers to strike work on April 11
The DCI Non-Executive Employees Union, affiliated to CITU, announced that they will strike work at the Dredging Corporation of India Limited on April 11 demanding the withdrawal of the proposed disinvestment plans by the government.

Working president of the Union P Venkata Rao and general secretary N Narsinga Rao told the reporters here on Thursday that the government is planning to hand over the company to private agencies in the name of strategic sale. They said that the company has been making profits since its establishment in 1976 and made a net profit of Rs 80 crore during the 2015-2016 financial year.
The company plays a key role in taking up dredging operations of all major and non-major ports and Indian Navy. It also paid dividend of Rs 21 crore during the past 10 years in the form of taxes. There are 1,000 people directly employed and thousands are depending on the company for their livelihood.
They said it was nothing but the conspiracy of the BJP government to hand over the profit making public sector undertakings to the private entities in the name of development.
