Tirupati: Transgender people are conducting a seminar at Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) here on Thursday, to discuss their problems. The seminar is being organised jointly by the Centre for Women and Extension Studies of SVU, Voluntary Health Services (VHS) and Women’s Initiative (WINS). Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, the district leader of transgender people M Hasini said that 10 representatives each from 13 districts will be attending the seminar.

Hasini said that the state government should set up a welfare board for transgenders and observe April 15 as transgender people’s day. Except Karnataka and Kerala, no other state has formulated separate policies for transgenders, Hasini said. R Meera from WINS, Johnson of VHS, Chennai and other transgenders were present.
