Nellore: Hyderabad-based Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (Midhani) is planning to set up an aluminium alloy plant in Nellore district. The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (APIIC) has been in the process of identifying the land sought by the company for setting up of the plant.

Midhani had approached the state government for land to establish the alloy plant and the district administration had reportedly considered the land at Bodduvaripalem in Kodavalur mandal.

In fact, if the proposed unit becomes reality, it will be the first defence manufacturing facility outside Hyderabad and the organisation is planning to invest between Rs 2,500crore-Rs.3,000 crore on the facility. The Midhani plant will be a joint venture with the state-owned aluminium producing company, National Aluminium Company (Nalco).

Further, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC)has also sought land to establish a lubricants unit at a cost of Rs 500 crore near Krishnapatnam port. “New units proposed by the oil major IOC and Midhani will be a boon for the district as they would contribute significantly for a change in the profile of the district,” said a senior official.
