Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched ‘Sexed Semen for Cows Supply Scheme (SSCSS) and inaugurated mobile veterinary clinic under Sanchara Pasu Vaidya Seva Kendram (SPVSK) with grant-in-aid under PPP here on Sunday.The main aim was to provide veterinary service at the doorstep of farmers in uncovered areas.

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched ‘Sexed Semen for Cows Supply Scheme (SSCSS) and inaugurated mobile veterinary clinic under Sanchara Pasu Vaidya Seva Kendram (SPVSK) with grant-in-aid under PPP here on Sunday.The main aim was to provide veterinary service at the doorstep of farmers in uncovered areas.

The government identified 810 villages under 45 divisions and 45 vehicles would be in operation. SPVSK mobile veterinary clinic would help in general medical attendance, minor surgical interventions, A.I. Services, reproductive management, input supply services and lab investigations.

The new mobile veterinary service would provide emergency services round the clock. This service would act as a link between the livestock farmers and Animal Husbandry Department and facilitate disease diagnosis, prompt treatment of sick animals at the doorstep, alert the farmers and public authorities concerned of village about the incidence of diseases, render extension services to increase the productivity per unit of livestock.

About 54.55 lakh breedable cattle & buffaloes are available in Andhra Pradesh. Through SSCSS scheme, about 50 lakh artificial inseminations would be carried out every year. Around 16 lakh calf births would be recorded every year out of which 8 lakh are male calves. Under this scheme, imported sexed semen from US was made available on subsidised price of Rs 250.
