Japan International Cooperation Agency formulating transportation strategy for Amaravati
As part of formulating action plan focusing on mass transport technologies and infrastructure for public and freight at each individual urban local body (ULB) level in purview of Amaravati region and Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA)’s jurisdiction, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has started its study on a Comprehensive Traffic and Transportation Study (CTTS) - 2050.
Amaravati: As part of formulating action plan focusing on mass transport technologies and infrastructure for public and freight at each individual urban local body (ULB) level in purview of Amaravati region and Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA)’s jurisdiction, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has started its study on a Comprehensive Traffic and Transportation Study (CTTS) - 2050.
Representatives of JICA are having meeting with officials of various organisations such a Metro Rail Corporation and others to discuss various issues relating to urban transportation.
They are collecting facts from the government organisations to create the data base related to traffic and transportation for the purpose to develop short, medium and long term transportation policy, strategy in line with National Urban Transport Policy (NUTP) guidelines by Government of India (GoI) for sustainable development.
A CRDA official said Vijayawada, Guntur, Amaravati, Tenali and Mangalagiri could become a mega city along with other major urban local bodies around, eventually creating high demand for additional transport infrastructure development within AP capital region.
As part of the technical cooperation between the Union Government and Government of Japan, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has come forward to take up the CTTS study for AP capital region.
The study will proceed through significant collaboration with state and national level transportation organizations, agencies as well as public participation.
The JICA representatives are going to meet officials of APCRDA, Vijayawada and Guntur Urban Police, National Highway authorities, Indian Railways and others.
