Officials said around 15 companies have come forward to supply water using mobile rain guns in 49 mandals in the district.

Chief secretary Dinesh Kumar on Wednesday suggested officials that they should consider of using tankers for supplying water in addition to mobile guns keeping in mind experiences of last year. The state government also made abortive attempt to save crops by using rain guns.

CM N Chandrbabu Naidu also said in a recent meeting that the effort was failed as it was not initiated lately. Using of rain guns attracted severe criticism by Opposition parties which contended that it could not be possible to save crops by using rain guns.

The CS told the officials that the government was spending around Rs 172 crore to supply water to kharif crops in Ananatapur district. “Officials should respond immediately in supplying water to crops if farmers request.
