Visakhapatnam: The two Telugu state governments must utilise Rs 11 crore funds allotted by the Centre to rectify the lapses in the land records, keep a check on land- related crimes and bring down pending court cases, said Central Information Commissioner Madabhushi Sridhar Acharyulu.

After having darshan of Narasimha Swamy in Simhachalam on Sunday, the Central Information Commissioner spoke to the media. “Across the country, irregularities in agriculture lands need to be rectified, but before that the records need to be made public. With this, the people can point out the lapses and express their objections,” he said.

For this, the public hearings and gram sabhas should be conducted to gather objections. After making corrections, the records could be digitised, he said. “By this process, crime rate will come down to 65 per cent and 3 crore land related pending cases in courts will be resolved in the country,” he pointed out
