50 cows found dead in Eluru

Eluru: As many as 50 cows found dead in a container at Avupadu village in Nallajerla mandal of West Godavari on Thursday.
According to police, the Devarapalli police have stopped a container transporting cows illegally from Odisha to Bahadurpura (Hyderabad) slaughter house.

The police took the driver and cleaner into their custody and sent the cows to Kakinada Gosamrakshana Samiti. When the container reached Kakinada, the samiti organisers found some cows dead and refused to take them. With this, the police have taken the container to Avupadu village in Nallajerla mandal where a Gosamrakshana Samiti exists.

When the container reached, the samiti organisers found most cows dead. They told the police that they won’t accept the dead cows. With this the police stopped container at Avupadu and dumped them on the road margin.

At that time, the Anantapalli police reached the spot and directed the Devarapalli police not to dump them on the road margins as it may cause epidemics. The villagers found around 20 cows breathing in the container. They brought those cows down and cremated the other dead cows.
