Srikakulam: The High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh cleared the disputes regarding Vamsadhara reservoir project rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) package, said joint collector KVN Chakradhara Babu.

Interacting with the media at the Collectorate here on Friday, the joint collector explained that 40 writ petitions were filed before the High Court by seeking its order for R&R payment as per the new Land Acquisition Act- 2013.

After hearing the petitions, the High Court Bench comprising the Chief Justice cleared and gave orders against petitioners stating that it is not fair and possible to provide R&R payment as per new the Act as payments were given under old Act.

In the wake of High Court orders, the displaced of all villages have to cooperate with the officials for speedy completion of project works in the interest of development of the district, he appealed.

“We cleared 95 per cent of R&R payments and 85 per cent works were completed. By issuing the GO No. 460, the state government released Rs 421.80 crore funds for R&R last year and we paid Rs 302.87 crore so far,” he elaborated.

“We arranged a separate cell at the Collectorate to resolve grievances regarding R&R package of Vamsadhara and affected people can call toll free number 1100 to solve their issues relating to R&R,” he added.
