MLA irked over double taxation

Reviewing the progress of activities in civic body here on Wednesday, he pointed out irregularities in the revenue collection, maintenance of sanitation and tardy progress of engineering department’s works.
He expressed dissatisfaction over the poor progress of works and said that he would review the progress now once in every 15 days.
The civic body has been showing an additional demand of Rs 1.02 crore in the name of double assessment and attributed it as the fault of civic body.
He told the officials to display list of double assessment and receive complaints to address the problem. He advised people against paying a single rupee till the problem was solved.
He asked Municipal Commissioner Rammohan to constitute teams that go round the town and ensure that there were no problems with sanitation, streetlights and drinking water.
Development works worth Rs 4.5 crore have been stalled in the town and told the officials to speed up the process. He wanted the loan applications for SCs, BCs, Kapus and other minorities made online and wanted the civic body to forward them to banks from time to time.
He appealed to residents to bring to his notice if birth and death registrations were not accomplished in five days.
Municipal Chairman Karanam Chinna Rao, councilor Reddem Bhaskara Rao, Commissioner M Rammohan and others took part in the meeting.
