Gandi (Kadapa): A large number of devotees turned out at the famous pilgrimage centre of Gandi in Kadapa district to have a darshan of Lord Anjaneya on Saturday, the last in the auspicious Telugu month of Sravana, and offered special pujas at the temple after having a holy dip in the River Papaghni.

According to the legend, the Lord Anjaneyaswamy idol was carved out by none other than Lord Rama during Tretayuga and installed it at the pilgrimage centre located in Chakrayapeta mandal of the district. Elaborate security measures have been made to cope up with the unprecedented rush.

The temple priest Kesari Swamy specially requisitioned flowers from Bengaluru and performed puja with betel leaves and kumkum and gave hararti to the deity. Devotees in thousands thronged the temple from all parts of the Rayalaseema region on the Sravana Saturday, the last in the Telugu month. However, the temple authorities have failed to provide adequate arrangements for drinking water and facilities at the bathing ghats.
