Eluru: The evacuees of Polavaram project from Velerupadu mandal staged a dharna at Mandal Tahsildar’s office on Monday demanding the officials conduct a survey and fix boundaries to lands allotted to them in Doramamidi village of Buttayagudem mandal.

The evacuees led by All India Rythu Coolie Sangh reached Buttayagudem from Velerupadu mandal on Monday morning and staged a dharna at the Tahsildar office. The displaced stated that the government had allotted land to displaced people of Velerupadu mandal in Buttayagudem mandal.

However, the officials did not conduct the survey and even the land acquisition did not take place in the Velerupadu mandal. They demanded the officials to take up survey on land allotted in Doramamidi and fix the boundaries immediately. They also demanded the government protect their right on land under Act 1/70.
