Eluru: West Godavari Collector K Bhaskar directed the medical and health officials to take up vaccination drive to prevent smallpox and measles in the district. He presided over the third district Task Force meeting held at Collectorate on Monday.

According to pulse survey, 8.36 lakh children were registered and it is the responsibility of district medical and health officer and district immunisation officer to administer vaccine to all these children by September 8, the collector said.

He directed them to upload all the details in the prescribed format in the online app. He expressed regret over the negligence of DMHO and district immunisation officer in implementing the vaccination programme. He directed them to coordinate with the other departmental officials to achieve cent per cent vaccination.

The Collector expressed his anger over district education officer RS Ganga Bhavani who failed to inform over the schools of the district. He asked her to implement the vaccination programme in all the 4,457 government and private schools in the district without fail. He also directed the social welfare, BC, minorities, tribal welfare officials to vaccinate the hostel children.
