Guntur: Vasireddy Venkatadri Institute of Technology has been actively taking part in the world’s largest free knowledge initiative, the Wikimedia movement. The Wikimedia Foundation is a non-profit charitable organisation dedicated to encourage growth, development and distribution of free, multilingual, educational content and provide content on these Wikimedia projects to the public free of charge.

The Wikimedia Foundation operates some of the largest collaboratively built reference projects in the world, including Wikipedia, a top-five internet property.

VVIT is on its way to form an official Wikimedia user group titled VIVA-VVIT Wikimedia User Group. A two-week long Wikipedia training programme will be held in three phases.

Participants in the workshop are introduced to the core content policies of Wikimedia and its sister projects, along with basic organisation of the content online.

VVIT has its own Students Club that runs weekly under the aegis of the Students Activity Counsel, in various domains such as technical, literature, fine arts, theatre, martial arts and social awareness. Under the literature domain, VVIT conducts Telugu Appreciation Club and English Literacy Clubs.
