Vijayawada: Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas on Wednesday said that the government was trying to relocate the students of Fathima Medical College, Kadapa, in private and government medical colleges in the State. He said the Supreme Court had taken up the case and began inquiry on the incidents related to cancellation of seats by the Medical Council of India (MCI) due to lack of infrastructure facilities in Fathima Medical College.

Health Minister says state will take action on the college management for flouting the norms and allocating seats without providing basic facilities

Talking to reporters here, the Minister said the apex court has asked the Andhra Pradesh government on possibility of relocating 100 students, whose career is in dilemma with the cancellation of seats by MCI two years ago.

As per the order,Kamineni Srinivas said the students will be treated as 2017 batch instead of 2015-16. He said that he took the matter to the notice of Chief Minister and Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, who was earlier Union Minister for Urban Development and added that the students had met him 16 times earlier seeking justice as the college had cheated them by allotting seats without sufficient infrastructure facilities.

He said the government would take action on the management of Fathima Medical College for flouting the norms and allocating seats without providing basic infrastructure facilities in 2015-16.

He said except one student who got rank in NEET exam, the government would try to relocate the remaining 99 students so that their career should not be spoiled due to misdeeds of college management.

He said the government would furnish all information to the Supreme Court on the relocation of students in two weeks. The Supreme Court adjourned the case to September 21.

It may be recalled that the students of Fathima Medical College had been agitating for more than a year for justice as their seats were cancelled by MCI. They staged innovative protest at the Dr NTR University of Health Sciences last month by threatening to jump from the building if their problems are not solved by the government.
After many representations made to the government and the courts, the Supreme Court finally began probe on Wednesday.
