Visakhapatnam: In an attempt to bolster innovative culture and entrepreneurship in the country, National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) has licensed more than 5,000 indigenous technologies to small and medium scale industries and start-ups as well as assisted in filing 1,700 patents so far, said Dr H Purushotham, Chairman and Managing Director of NRDC.

He was addressing a press meet here on Sunday. AP Innovation Society (APIS) and NRDC will enter into an MoU in connection with the Incubation Centres and start-ups on Monday in the presence of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu at International Innovation Fair, he said.

NRDC, which works under Union Ministry of Science and Technology, helps the aspiring entrepreneurs by providing Intellectual Property protected technologies to develop new products and services in the country through their Innovation Facility Centres.

"We at NRDC have access to the scholarly and innovative works of 1,000 research institutes and 800 universities in the country. So, any budding entrepreneur, who identifies a problem could approach us and seek the available technologies to come up with a viable business product," the NRDC Chairman and MD said.

Since the post-bifurcation, as Andhra Pradesh did not have any research institutes, the NRDC has been in the forefront to encourage start-ups and SMEs in the state to improve the socio-economic graph.
