Minister for Health Dr Kamineni Srinivas said 1,000 nurses will be recruited to the King George Hospital in two months, while inaugurating new dialysis block at the KGH in here on Wednesday.The Minister after inaugurating dialysis centre and modern emergency block here, interacted with patients enquiring about amenities and doctors availability.

Visakhapatnam: Minister for Health Dr Kamineni Srinivas said 1,000 nurses will be recruited to the King George Hospital in two months, while inaugurating new dialysis block at the KGH in here on Wednesday.The Minister after inaugurating dialysis centre and modern emergency block here, interacted with patients enquiring about amenities and doctors availability.
Later, talking to the reporters, the Minister said that the government has decided to increase the number of nurses and ward boys soon. “We will also depute doctors for agency areas,’’ he added.
Answering to a query on lack of sufficient nurses, pregnant women sharing beds and lack of antedotes for snake bites in agency, the Minister replied that he had asked the officials concerned to talk to the Nurses Association leaders on September 19 at Velagapudi to discuss about the recruitment.
KGH superintendent Dr G Arjuna said 30 to 40 patients can undergo free dialyses in these new blocks every day. “We are planning to add two more dialysis units as per the demand. In emergency block, 50 beds have been provided with all the equipment. Around 20 patients can be treated in the ICU,’’ Dr Arjuna said.
Local MP Dr K Haribau, RMO Dr K Bangarayya and Andhra Medical College Principal Dr V Sudhakar were also present.
Medicos told to equip with soft skills Minister for Health and Medical Education Dr Kamineni Srinivasa Rao said that soft skills would help the medical and health professionals to deal with the patients more effectively and create confidence among patients.
The Minister released the book ‘Soft Skills for Health Professionals’ authored by Challa Krishnaveer Abhishek and Voleti Archana of Linguistics Research Society here on Thursday. Srinivasa Rao said that the soft skills training programmes will be conducted for the staff working in health sector to make them more capable and discharge their functions most efficiently.
Visakhapatnam MP K Haribabu, King George Hospital superintendent Dr Arjun, Linguistics Research Society president Dr K Shanthi and others were present.
