Atmakur (Kurnool): The Sangameswara temple on the banks of confluence of seven rivers is slowing going down under the water as floods to river Krishna is on the rise as the river is receiving 1.91 lakh cusecs from the upper reaches of the river. Because of the floods, the water level in the confluence of river is on the rise and it almost reached the gopuram of the sanctum-sanctorum of the temple. Meanwhile, water level in Srisailam project reached 854.5 feet with an increased storage capacity of 90 tmcft.

In fact, 80 per cent of the temple has gone down under the water with only gopuram visible. The gopuram will complete submerge under the water by dawn on Tuesday. Temple priest Telakapalli Raghurama Sarma performed Sikhara arti and evening arti to the confluence of seven rivers. Special pujas, yagas, homams concluded with the giving of maha mangal arti on Monday.
