World Bank team suggests improvement of facilities for workers in Amaravati

Amaravati: Members of social and environment wing of the World Bank held a meeting with officials of Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) at ADC office on Friday on the facilities and security of labour working in various construction projects in Amaravati for which the bank is extending financial assistance.

The delegation led by Ramakrishna inspected the roads and other construction works in Amaravati and enquired about the labour involved in the construction works and about the facilities the ADC is providing them.

They suggested to chief engineer of ADC T Moses Kumar that sanitation has to be improved at the temporary houses of the workers and shifting of the garbage piles from the area.

They also told the chief engineer that toilets have to be set up for the workers and minimum facilities should be provided to the children of the workers. All these suggestions have to be implemented within 10 days as the World Bank officials would visit Amaravati on October 23 and 24, they said.

ADC officials said the World Bank delegation expressed satisfaction over the pace of construction works in the capital city area and suggested measures for flood control in Amaravati area.
