Pithapuram: Local legislator SVSN Varma called upon bankers to cooperate in implementing the House-for-all scheme of the state government to fulfill the dream of a roof over the head of the poor.

In a meeting with the bankers held here on Tuesday, he said that the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu sanctioned over 900 houses for the homeless poor of the town.

The MLA said that the lead bank manager Subrahmanyam had agreed to extend a total loan of Rs 27 crore. The government subsidy component to each house would tantamount to Rs 3 lakh for each house. He said that the site cost would tantamount to Rs 20 crore boiling down the total project cost to Rs 75 crore.

Municipal Chairman Karanam Chinna Rao, commissioner M Rammohan, Town planning officer Seshagiri, councilors Reddem Bhaskar Rao, Koruprolu Srinivas, former councilors Nalla Srinivas, lead bank manager Subrahmanyam and mangers of various local banks attended the programme.
