Vijayawada: Principal Secretary to government (Energy and Infrastructure) Ajay Jain on Friday said that Coastal Employment Zone to be set up near Krishnapatnam Port, Hyderabad–Bangalore corridor passing through Kurnool district and Vizag-Chennai industrial corridor will boost industrial development in the State.

He addressed a meeting on ‘Emerging Infrastructure and Logistics Opportunities’ organised under the aegis of AP Chambers, Kakinada Container Terminal Pvt Ltd and the State government in Vijayawada on Friday. Speaking on this occasion, he said that the government has already started the process of acquiring about 30,000 acres of CEZ at Krishnapatnam Port.

He said the Central government is likely to give several concessions to the entrepreneurs who set up industrial units in the CEZ and it is expected to announce a policy soon. He further said that at present six sea ports and six airports were functioning in the State and added that another three airports will come up soon in the State.

Stating that the State government has been laying emphasis on development of ports, he said the Centre would soon set up Dugarajapatnam Port.
He said truck terminals will be built in a big way under public-private partnership mode. He said the State government will announce new warehousing policy soon. Jain pointed out that the State has achieved 11.6% growth rate.

CII AP chairman JSRK Prasad said that there was a need to reduce logistic costs and develop infrastructure in the State. He said because of new housing policy, construction industry will develop in the State. He also said the electronics industry will develop in the State. He pointed out that there is a need for skilled workers in the State.

Customs Commissioner Koka Sudha said they have been working on simplifying the systems for the convenience of exporters. Krishnapatnam Port CEO Anil Yenduluri and AP Chamber of Commerce of Industry president G Sambasiva Rao were among those participated.
