Bhavani Island spruced up
The Bhavani island, which is an ideal destination for the visitors of Vijayawada, has been spruced up for the month long Karthika masam festival celebrations, which will start from October 20 and conclude on November 18.

Karthika masam is well known for garden parties and celebrations in the state. The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation staff is busy with renovation of play toys and decorating the island to attract the visitors.

Adventure sports like spider web, trampoline, zip line, wine traverse are familiar to the local visitors particularly the youngsters. The APTDC is painting the old toys and installing new sculptures of horses, deers and other animals. Statue of the Buddha and fountain are added in the island.

The APTDC is earning a huge revenue every year during the Karthika masam as thousands of visitors pay a visit to the eBhavani Island along with families. The APTDC operates boats and steamers between the Berm Park and the island. APTDC Vijayawada divisional manager VV Gangaraju said the department is ready to serve lunch to the visitors as part of the package. He announced on Wednesday five types of packages. The four categories have price tickets of Rs 250, Rs 350, Rs 450 and Rs.500.
The department is also announced package for children with Rs.200, Rs.300, Rs.400 and Rs.450. He said the packages include boating from Berm Park to the Bhavani Island and back, special vegetarian buffet lunch and cultural programmes.
