Kakinada: Minister for Civil Supplies Prathipati Pulla Rao said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is according top priority to provide medicare to the people, especially the poor, in the state. He, along with Home Minister N Chinarajappa, Kakinada MP Thota Narasimham and Legislative Council chairman Reddy Subrahmanyam inaugurated the ‘Mega Health Camp’ organised by MLA Varupula Subba Rao on the Zilla Parishad High School premises at Prathipadu here on Sunday.

Pulla Rao said that the poor people had come to the camp and availed the free medical treatment from a team of best doctors. He said that to provide corporate medical facilities to the poor in the state, the Chief Minister launched the NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme under which medical services up to Rs 2.5 lakh are free. The Minister appreciated the initiative of MLA Varupula in organising such a huge medical camp for the poor.

Speaking on the occasion, Chinarajappa said that their government was spending crores of rupees for the welfare of the poor in the state. He informed that in this mega health camp, all the necessary medicines will be given for free besides the medical tests. The Home Minister said that they had deployed medical teams in agency areas to prevent the spread of the seasonal diseases.

Prathipadu MLA Varupula Subba Rao said that a 270-member team of doctors and medical staff were rendering their services in the mega health camp. Varupula informed that nearly 35,000 poor had utilised the services rendered through this camp and he thanked all the medical, revenue, police, Velugu and other department officials for participating in the camp.

The MLA said that General Medicine, Neurology, ENT, Urology, Dermatology, Heart, Lung, Eye specialists, Orthopaedic and other branches of medical experts rendered their services in this camp. ZP chairman Jyothula Naveen, MLA Jyothula Nehru, MLCs Chikkala Rama Chandra Rao, Anguri Lakshmi Siva Kumari, APCOB chairman P Koteswara Rao, DCCB chairman Varupula Raja, AMC chairman Kanna Babu, DMHO Dr K Chandrayya, RDO Visveswara Rao and others participated.
