Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) organised diabetic awareness and screening camp at PHC, Mangalam in Tirupati on the occasion of World Diabetes Day on Tuesday.

Tirupati: Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) organised diabetic awareness and screening camp at PHC, Mangalam in Tirupati on the occasion of World Diabetes Day on Tuesday. More than 100 patients were benefitted during this camp. Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women was also associated with the camp along with the SVIMS Endocrinology department.

Hospital Medical superintendent Dr Alok Sachan explained about the symptoms of diabetes, factors responsible for the disease and remedy measures. In the world, India occupies second place after China in the number of diabetic patients. It is everybody’s responsibility to bring awareness on diabetes to reduce the incidence significantly with life style modifications and change in dietary habits.

Regular exercise occupies an important place in this regard, he asserted. PHC Medical Officer Dr Kajal Anand, Head of Community Medicine department Dr Anju Adde, Dr Althaf Hussain, Dr Ravi Sankar, Dr Y Bhavani, Dr Salini and Nursing College faculty Kokila also spoke on the occasion. Posters on various instructions were displayed and pamphlets distributed to the patients.
