It seems the tragic boat mishap which claimed 22 innocent lives in Vijayawada is still haunting Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya.

Recently, the AP tourism department sacked few officials holding them responsible for the tragedy. Now, Akhila Priya is facing the heat of the mishap.
The talk in the political circles is that AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has asked Akhila Priya to quit her minister post on moral grounds for the tragic boat mishap. The AP CM reportedly expressed anger at the Tourism minister in a recent conference in the AP capital.

"In the past, Ministers used to resign taking responsibility when such things happened. Why can't Tourism Department be held responsible for the boat tragedy?," Chandrababu reportedly asked Akhila Priya in the presence of other ministers and officials.

It is learnt that that Akhila Priya was remained silent for some time. However, Chandrababu's son and IT minister Nara Lokesh denied reports of Chandrababu asking for Akhila Priya’s resignation.“She is doing a fine job and she has bright future. But we will not spare the officials of the department who were hand in glove with the private boat operators,” Nara Lokesh said.
