Visakhapatnam: Skill development training programme to people with disabilities (Divyangan), a maiden venture of corporate social responsibility wing of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd was inaugurated on Monday.

The programme was aimed at em powering 100 Divyangan residing in the surrounding villages of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant to earn a better livelihood. Skill development training facilitated through National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC) set up by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, was organised by Chhattisgarh Industrial and Technical Consultancy Centre (CITCON), Raipur, at their training centre located at Old Gajuwaka in the city.

The RINL already extending support to differently abled persons in its surrounding villages through Arunodaya Special School, providing artificial limbs, calipers, tricycles to PWDs and thereby improving their quality of life. Training of three month duration in sewing machine operator, data entry operator, beauty therapist and mobile phone mechanism will be provided. A stipend of Rs 2,000 per month will be given to trainees.
