Kadapa: Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president N Tulasi Reddy alleged that both the Centre and State governments are playing games in the name of study reports over the establishment of steel plant in Kadapa district.

Speaking to media here on Friday, he said if both the governments really interested in establishment of steel plant, they would not have wasted three-and-a-half years’ time in the name of comprehensive reports.

Responding to Union Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh comments over seeking short-term report from SAIL for the establishment of steel factory in Kadapa district, the PCC vice-president recalled that the Congress government had taken responsibility of establishing steel plant in Vizag even though infrastructure facilities were not available there at that time.

He demanded the Centre as to why it has been dragging the issue despite establishment of steel plant in Kadapa district was clearly mentioned in the AP Bifurcation Act.

Stating that there was plenty of land available in Kopparthy village of CK Dinne mandal, Vemaguntapalle, P Bommapalle of Jammalamadugu mandal and K Kambala Dinne village of Mydukuru mandal, he said sufficient water was available in Gandikota, Brahma Sagar and Somasila reservoirs for the same.

He also said large quantity of lime stone, dolomite and manganese was available at neighbouring Prakasam district. Despite all these factors, the Centre is showing step-motherly treatment towards the Seema people only due to political reasons, he said.
