Anantapur: YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's ‘Praja Sankalpa Yatra’ juggernaut is expected to enter the district from Basinepalle Thanda in Gooty mandal. The Yatra which is making a huge impact in Rayalaseema districts, Kadapa and Kurnool, is expected to boost the party's sagging morale caused by desertions of former MLA Gurunath Reddy and sitting MLA of Kadiri Assembly segment Chand Basha, who had joined the ruling party.

Uravakonda MLA Visveshwara Reddy is the lone legislator who clung to the party and is fighting a lonely battle. Congress senior ex-MP Anantha Venkatarama Reddy is also in the YSRCP. Jaganmohan's Yatra will pass through Tadipatri, Singanamala, Uravakonda, Raptadu, Dharmavaram, Puttaparthi, and Kadiri Assembly constituencies. The YSRCP supremo would walk 250 km in the district and enter Chittoor district.

He is expected to make major announcements of what he would do for the district if his party is voted to power in 2019 general elections. His yatra would cover Guntakal, Gooty, Peddavaduguru, Pamidi, Garladinne and Kuderu mandals and connect with thousands of people in the villages in the above mentioned mandals and Assembly constituencies.

He would go hammer and tongs against the Chief Minister, who the YSRCP president alleges that he has done nothing for a district that is reeling under severe drought and poverty. His professed love for the district was not backed up with actions. Only 10 percent of Handri Neeva project works could be completed during the three-and-a-half-year rule of the TDP while the Congress government had completed 80 per cent of works in its 5-year rule.

His major achievements were engineering defections from YSRCP into his party, allege the YSRCP leaders. The timing of the Gurunath Reddy joining the TDP had been planned such a way to weaken the party even before Jaganmohan's tour enters the district. Political observers are waiting to see how the YSRCP chief's Yatra in the district would revive the sagging morale of the party cadre and rank and file.
