Sewage Treatment Plant will be completed by next year: Mayor
City mayor Sk Abdul Aziz has said they would complete construction of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) by next year making the city Swachh Nellore with the support of the citizens. Nellore Municipal Corporation organised awareness programme on Swachh Survekshan at AC Vegetable Market in the city on Sunday.

Mayor, along with Corporation Commissioner, explained about the programme. Speaking at the meeting, Mayor Aziz has said that Nellore city stands third place at the national level among ODF cities. He praised the efforts of authorities to make the city as an Open Defecation Free one. Aziz said that authorities have constructed 8,000 Individual Household Toilets across the city.
He said that awareness on sanitation has been increasing gradually among people in the city. ‘Municipalities in the country get national funds for showcasing the significance of sanitation during Swachh Survekshan. This is a good opportunity for Nellore Municipal Corporation to get such funds.
Citizens have to maintain hygienic conditions in their surroundings to tap the resources,’ said the Mayor. He also explained that citizens have to notice that the city was in 165th place in remaining wings of Swachh Bharat. Corporators Penchala Naidu, Corporation Health Officer Venkateswarlu and others were present.
