Visakhapatnam: The functionaries of several women's and human rights organisations on Friday cried foul over the action of the rural police of Visakhapatnam in filing a case under Section 108 CrPC on senior advocate of Palla Trinadha Rao.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, general secretary of Human Rights Forum VS Krishna alleged that police filed the case against advocate Trinadha Rao to intimidate him.

The victims in the Vakapalli incident had approached the High court seeking appointment of P Trinadh Rao as Special Public Prosecutor. The issue was posted to January 2, 2018 by the High Court, he added.

It is learnt that Trinadha Rao accompanied by a local scribe was proceeding towards Vakapalli village when the police stopped his car and seized his documents, mobile and took him into their custody.

He was taken to G Madugula police station and a case was registered under Section 108 CrPC against him, he said. He urged senior police officers and the government to take immediate action against the police for arresting Trinadha Rao.
