Nellore: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu gave a call to state universities to overhaul the existing traditional courses for attracting the current generation. The Chief Minister inaugurated a new campus of the Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) constructed at a cost of Rs 26.1 crore at Kakuturu on Saturday. Addressing a meeting, Chandrababu said country’s development is not measured with its wealth but how effectively it is using its human resources.

He stated that education makes man perfect, and human beings can develop only with the knowledge which leads to nation’s progress. The Chief Minister opined that there should be a radical change in the present education system as many students from foreign universities spend much of their time in field trips and devote less time for classroom teaching.
He suggested the same strategy should be adopted by the varsities in the state for achieving good results. He said students can read subjects in virtual classroom during leisure time rather spending time in classrooms. The Chief Minister mentioned about new interventions like Real Time Governance (RTG), Parishkara Vedika, use of drones, surveillance cameras and many others as part introducing technology for governance. He said even students of engineering or medicine should acquire knowledge in IT.
Chandrababu stated that majority activities are being accomplished through applications like Amazon, Google etc. He said power tariff would significantly come down due to availability of solar and wind power as the state government had given much priority for alternative power generation. He said students should not get bored while reading the study material.
“I work round-the-clock, but I never get tired,” he mentioned. He suggested state universities to introduce courses like automobile, aquaculture, boat building etc to meet present demands of the world.
He said Andhra Pradesh occupies next place after Gujarat in sea cargo. He assured VSU officials of sanctioning Rs 50 crore for development of the varsity. Later, he interacted with the students. Agriculture Minister S Chandramohan Reddy, District Collector R Mutyala Raju, Vice-Chancellor V Veeraiah, TDP senior leader B Mastan Rao, and others were present.
