Srikakulam: The Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) Project Officers (PO) are made the Chairmen of Purchasing Committees (PC) for their respective ITDA areas. The government issued the GO MS No. 4 recently and it has been dispatched to Sitampeta ITDA head office on Friday.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Friday, Sitampeta ITDA PO L Siva Shankar said: “I requested the government to make a change in the composition of the Purchasing Committees in ITDA areas to reduce the burden on the District Collectors and the government accepted it as it will help in disposing files regarding purchases in eight ITDAs in the state quickly. ” He said that he had made this proposal at a state-level meeting with the ITDA project officers and other officials in Vijayawada on June 15, 2017.

As per GO MS No 4, the project officer is the Chairman of the Purchasing Committee of the ITDA, while one MLA from the Scheduled Tribe category from the district, one representative of Tribal Gurukulams, a divisional manager of Girijana Cooperative Corporation (GCC), district supply officer and general manager of the District Industrial Centre (DIC) are made members of the committee. The total members of the committee are five except the chairman.
