Vijayawada: A software professional tried to kill his wife due to personal disputes on Friday night at Penamaluru village in Krishna district. But the issue came to light on Saturday night after the victim lodged a complaint with police and informed the media about the ghastly incident. The woman luckily survived after raising an alarm.

According to Penamaluru police, software professional S Rajaratnam, a resident of Pedda Gudi area in Penamaluru village married Prashanti of the same village four years ago. For the past two years, the couple were quarrelling over petty issues. On Friday night, the husband had connected electrical wire to her and tried to kill her.

Luckily, she raised an alarm and survived. Later, she lodged a complaint with Penamaluru police about the ghastly incident. The police registered a case on Saturday night and began the probe. The software engineer works from home. The couple was blessed with a boy two years ago. On January 28, she gave birth to a baby girl. Since then, he has been harassing her to get dowry.

The victim Prasanti told the Penamaluru police that earlier, too, he had harassed for dowry and case has been registered in the Penamaluru police station. With the attempt to murder committed by the accused, the police registered a case against him and launched hunt to nab the accused. Police said Rajaratnam was not happy with the birth of a baby girl and has been harassing his wife for more dowry.
