Boy crushed to death as lorry overturns

A 13-year old teenager was killed on the National Highway at Yarnagudem village of Devarapalli mandal in the district on Friday when a speeding lorry lemons-laden overturned. The villagers and eyewitnesses said that boy Ganji Banni, Class IX student was going on a bicycle and came underneath the lorry when it overturned.

The police who rushed to the spot tried to send the body to post-mortem, but his parents and relatives objected to it. Meanwhile, Gopalapuram MLA M Venkateswara Rao spoke to the villagers over phone and assured them that he would tell the East Godavari District Collector not to send the heavy vehicles towards Devarapalli from Kovvuru.
