Commissioner of Police D Gowam Sawang on Monday inaugurated 15-day training programme for immigration officers at Gannavaram Airport.  In all 21 officials will be given training on how to deal with passengers at the airport.

Vijayawada: Commissioner of Police D Gowam Sawang on Monday inaugurated 15-day training programme for immigration officers at Gannavaram Airport. In all 21 officials will be given training on how to deal with passengers at the airport.

The training is conducted in view of upgradation of Vijayawada airport to International Airport in August 2017. After bifurcation of the state, the Gannavaram airport has been developed with Rs 150 crore. New passenger terminal building was constructed, and the existing old building was renovated for the international operations.

Some airlines are planning to operate international services from Gannavaram airport. City DCP law and order Gajarao Bhupal has been appointed as the immigration officer of the airport. IG training N Sanjay, DCP (Admin) J Brahma Reddy, airport director G Madhusudana Rao and other officials were present on the occasion. The training programme will conclude on February 26.
