Couple ends life over financial disputes
Misunderstanding over financial matters between wife and husband has forced them to take extreme step and commit suicide. With haste, they consumed pesticide and ended their lives. The incident took place on Sunday, but it came to limelight on Monday morning as the relatives lodged complaint with Gudur police.

The deceased were identified as K Swamulu (42) and K Giddamma (35) and were residents of Penchikalapadu village in Gudur mandal. The Gudur SI G Mallikarjuna has said the couple were married 15 years ago and were happy with their marital life. They were bestowed with two children, Manoj and Swathi, studying in 8th and 4th standards respectively in the village’s government school.
For the last three years, the two were facing hard days to meet the daily needs. Due to financial crisis, the couple was said to be involved in heated arguments. As usual, they had quarrelled on Sunday afternoon. With the intervention of the family members, the quarrel was subsided, the SI said. Vexed with the regular quarrels, Giddamma decided to end her life. With the thought she consumed pesticide in the evening and fell unconscious.
After noticing froth emanating from her mouth, the family shifted her to Kurnool General Hospital where she died. On learning about his wife’s death, Swamulu also consumed pesticide and committed suicide fearing the consequences.
With the two deaths, the entire family was soaked in grief and children became parentless. We have received complaints from both family members and filed cases accordingly. The case is under investigation, the SI stated.
